Configure Scheduled Routing on an Access Point

You do this by assigning a routing schedule of one or more time bands to an access point/group.

A time band defines days of the week, start/end times on those days, holidays, and a route plan. In a list of multiple time bands, the first time band is tried first. If it doesn't match, the next time band is tried and so on until a match is found.

According to the routing schedule of three time bands in the table below, the system first checks the first time band for a match. if the current day falls on any of the dates defined in the Christmas and New Year holiday calendar, the 'Winter' route plan is followed; otherwise the system checks the second time band for a match. If it is Saturday or Sunday, the 'Weekend' route plan is followed; otherwise the system checks the final time band. If it is a weekday between 17:00:00 and 08:59:59, the 'Out of Hours' route plan is followed; otherwise the route plan applied to the access point's main route is followed (the default route).

You should apply a time schedule to an access point to route any communication that should not be handled by the primary route plan. In the schedule, it is recommended that holiday routing takes priority over non-holiday routing.

Note: a scheduled route plan is overridden by any disaster recovery route plan that is currently active on the access point/group.

Creating a Routing Schedule

  1. From the STUDIO main screen, select Inbound > Routing Schedules.

  1. Click New Routing Schedule.
  2. In the New Routing Schedule dialog, name the schedule and then click  to define holiday dates in the displayed dialog:

Either select an existing calendar or define a new one.

  1. Click Save.
  2. Back in the New Routing Schedule dialog, configure the time band with desired values. The dialog displays a single line of fields for you to define the routing schedule’s first time band and associated route plan.
  3. If required, add further time bands by clicking  at the end of the time band row.

You can prioritise time bands by clicking the  and  buttons that appear once you have entered the first time band.

  1. Click Save.

Assigning the Schedule to an Access Point

  1. From the second tab, select Configure Access Points.

  1. Click the Edit Schedule  button for the access point/group to which to apply the schedule.
  2. In the Routing Schedule dialog, clear the Create New Schedule check box and then select the desired routing schedule from the options list:

Notes: you can create a new schedule directly on an access point/group by clicking the access point/access point group's Edit  button in the Routing Schedule column of the Configure Access Points screen. The schedule is saved to your list of schedules.

To remove a routing schedule from an access point/group, click the access point's Edit Schedule  button and then click Remove in the Routing Schedule dialog. If the access point is a member of an access point group, the schedule is removed from all group members.
