Add a LINE Access Point

You must first sign up for a LINE account, create a LINE developer account, then create a messaging API channel, prior to adding the LINE access point.

Once created, the LINE access point is available on the Configure Access Points screen, where you can assign route plans to them. These may be used to forward LINE messages to an agent group whose members can monitor messages and reply to them from the DTA.

Sign up for a LINE Account

In order to use a LINE Business ID, you must already have an active LINE account.

  1. On a mobile device visit https://line.me/en for details.
  2. Tap the Free Download button, which will take you to your mobile device’s app store.
  3. Download the LINE application to your phone.
  4. Open the LINE application.
  5. Click Sign up if you do not already have a LINE account, or Log in if you do.
  6. Enter your telephone number.
  7. Enter the verification code.

Before you can create a LINE Business ID you must associate a registered email address with your LINE account.

  1. Tap the cog icon within the LINE app on your phone.
  2. Tap on Account.
  3. Enter your email address.
  4. Enter the verification code when it arrives.

Note: it can take some time for the verification code to arrive, and it is possible that the application will time out before the code is sent. If this happens, tap Resend verification code.

Create a LINE Developer Account

In a web browser, navigate to https://developers.line.biz/en.

  1. Click the Log In button to display the LINE Business ID Login options.

  1. Click the Log in with LINE account button.
  2. Enter your Email address, followed by your Password.
  3. Enter the CAPTCHA text, then click the Log in button.

The LINE developers console registration screen then prompts for user details.

  1. Enter your name followed by your email address.
  2. Click the check box to accept the LINE Developers Agreement.
  3. Click the Create my account button.
  4. Click the Create a new provider button.

Note: a provider is the name of the company, client, brand or other entity that provides the apps you are working on.

  1. Enter the Provider name, and then click the Create button.

Create a Messaging API Channel

From within your LINE developer’s account, click on the provider that you want to add a Messaging API Channel to.

  1. Click the Create a Messaging API channel button.

  1. Complete the Create a channel details by entering the following information:

Channel type

Set this to Messaging API.

Provider

The name of the company, client, brand or other entity that provides the apps you’re working on.

Channel icon

Upload a channel icon in PNG,JPG,JPEG,GIF,BMP format, up to 3MB in size.

Channel name

A maximum channel name of up to 20 characters.

Channel description

A description of the channel

Category

Select an appropriate category for the channel from the list displayed.

Subcategory

Select an appropriate subcategory for the channel from the list displayed.

Email address

A valid email address is required.

Privacy policy

A web link to your company’s privacy policy.

Terms of use

A web link to your company’s terms of use page.

  1. Accept the LINE Official Account Terms of Use, and LINE Official Account Terms of Use.
  2. Click the Create button to create your Messaging API Channel.

Your new messaging API settings are displayed once the account has been created.

  1. Click on the green Messaging API tab.
  2. Scroll down to Auto-reply messages and click the green Edit button to the right.
  3. Select Disabled for Auto-response.

  1. Keep the LINE developer’s console window open, and open a new tab to log on to STUDIO.

Add a LINE Access Point

  1. From the STUDIO main screen select Service Configuration > Templates & Profiles > LINE Accounts.

  1. Click the Add Account button.

Enter the following details from the basic setting page in the LINE developer’s console.

Once all of the details have been added:

  1. Click Save; the Webhook URL is displayed.

  1. Click the Copy button to copy the URL to your clipboard.
  2. Return to the LINE developer’s console tab, and click the Messaging API tab.
  3. Scroll down to Webhook settings and click the Edit button.
  4. Paste the Webhook URL copied from STUDIO.
  5. Click the Update button.
  6. Click the Verify button to check that the webhook URL is working.

  1. Click OK when you get the success message.
  2. Select Use webhook (green) to enable the link to the storm platform.

Note: you may have to verify the webhook URL more than once if it fails first time.

Assign an Access Point to a Social Media Queue

The access point needs to point to a Custom Service or Treatment that routes through to a social media queue.

  1. Browse to Inbound > Configure Access Points.
  2. Remove the filter by clicking the  next to: Access Type – Access Number.
  3. Select LINE under Access Type.

  1. Click on the Access Point name that you want to configure; the Access Point Details are displayed.

  1. Enter a description for the access point.
  2. On the Primary tab, click New to create a new route plan.
  3. Enter a name for the route plan.
  4. For Route Type, select Custom Service to route LINE messages to a FLOW script; or select storm UC to route LINE messages to a call treatment.
  5. If routing to a Custom Service, select the name of the service from the drop-down list.
  6. If routing to storm UC, ensure that storm UC Type is set to Call Treatment, then select the name of the treatment from the drop-down list.
  7. Click the Save button.

Testing

To test that LINE messaging has been correctly configured, log in to your LINE Business ID account by visiting: https://developers.line.biz/en.

  1. In the Providers section, click the Provider that you want to test.

  1. Select the Messaging API link.

  1. Click the Messaging API tab and scroll down to the QR code.
  2. Scan the QR code from the LINE developer page using your mobile phone, and add the created channel to your LINE account.

You will then be able to send messages end-to-end using your mobile phone and an agent logged on to the storm platform.
